The Next Always by Nora Roberts
Book one of the Inn Boonsboro trilogy
I suppose I should stop reading love
stories but the cover was just so tempting. For some reason this story struck
me as perfectly romantic, small town, a book store, an inn (which reminds me of
Cannington and the king’s head), and a love story. Couldn’t ask for more. Plus,
I really love the part of the rehab of an old hotel. I’ve always had a thing
for a hotel because it mostly means travel and rest and being a guest when you
got nothing to worry. I still remember the moment we opened the door of our
room at the hotel in London. The beautiful sunshine through the windows and the
gorgeous bed were definitely the best part after those adventures every day. It
feels like home when we were in London.
And they’re building their hotel! No point
in doing something if you’re going to do it half-assed. So they say, and they
did a great job. They have pretty tiles, polished wood, the furniture and
everything. That’s just wonderful. And this all happens in a small town, of which
I can totally get the picture. The locals and town gossips are warming.
“Ryder watched Beckett packing it up for
the day. He knew when his brother was in a mood, and decided to poke at it to
get to the root.” That’s annoying but cute hahah. The brotherhood makes me more
in love with this book. With their mom, they work as a team and a family, Ryder
being the boss, Beckett being the architect, Owen being all organized. The fact
that they work so good together and that they have each other’s back is probably
my favorite part. How lucky it is to have brothers or sisters like this.
“But…my baby’s going to kindergarten. Five
minutes ago I had him in a backpack, now he’ll be carrying one to school. Harry’s
moving halfway through elementary school. It doesn’t seem possible. So, I’ll
drop them off Monday morning, go home, have a good cry. And that’ll be all
that.”
“I always figured my mom did a happy dance
the minute we walked down the lane to the school bus.”
“The happy dance comes after the good cry.”
“It’s more than a bed-and-breakfast. I
think it’s going to have that kind of warmth and charm, but combined with the
pizzazz of a boutique hotel.”
